Yesterday we took a 400 mile, 6 hour round trip drive up to Cathedral Gorge Sate Park (Nevada). It was worth the drive. Very cool and totally different than anything else we have seen. Very narrow slot canyons and beautiful scenery. We had a fun time exploring the canyons.
Best time is either spring or fall as summer gets pretty hot and winter can have snow. You could spend a month doing different trails every day, so be there as long as you can. It is busy, so make reservations early.
It's a $70K truck. Why not get the best performance and mileage you can. It may even help the engine (cleaner) a little. To me it is a no brainer, go with the best. It isn't $ 5.42 each fill up unless you run out of gas and totally fill the tank. If that makes enough of a difference to you...
Got it dusty again. 3 times this week, I really need to get it washed. Did the Swansea trail south of Parker, AZ. You can get a little off the trail and go through a neat slot canyon, which is wide enough for the Raptor.
I run 36/33 on the road all the time. Scab, lightly loaded. I have about 20K miles on the tires and they still have 7/32 left. Radials are not as pressure sensitive as the old bias plys were, and a couple of pound lower doesn't effect mileage that much. Don't overthink it.
Got it even more dusty. Last weekend we did the Desert Bar (coolest bar in the USA). Last night at a bar, we sat next to a couple who told us about the Bunker Bar. It is also out in the desert, although the road to it is much more "comfortable". It is north of Lake Havasu and it just opened...
The first reports of the 7.3 in a motor home is that the mileage is the same or worse than the V10 it replaces. I had also heard through a friend that an engineer at Ford said that mileage was a problem with the engine, which is one reason why it was not released earlier. She is a thirsty one...
I have never blown a bead and have gone down to 10 on non beadlock rims on my Jeep. The Raptor is heavier, but I have still gone down to 12 for rock crawling and have not had any problems. On normal desert trails (rough dirt roads), I use 17 in front and 15 in back. I do have an air...
Zombiekiller is right, but you can go down to 18 (everything stock) as long as you don't drive faster than about 45 mph to the gas station to air up (assuming it is not 60 miles away). Unless the outside temps are above 90, then I would keep it below 40.
Even if it did happen, it would be a reorganization not a liquidation. It would be to get rid of some debt and restructure other debt. Hackett screwed up a couple of years ago by announcing they were dropping cars and focusing on trucks. After that, who would buy a Ford car knowing it was...
Yesterday took it on a road trip from Lake Havasu, AZ to Oatman, AZ. It is an old western mining town on route 66 and they let burros roam around the town. Had lunch at the local saloon/restaurant and had a bison burger. On the way back went down some dirt roads at 60 mph and had some fun...
I wondered why they hired Hackett. Being from Grand Rapids, I knew Steelcase pretty well, and his record there was not good. When they had issues, he quickly blamed the economy rather than poor management which led to poor employee moral. They probably need to get rid of him.
We moved down to Lake Havasu for 11 days. Yesterday we crossed the Parker Dam over to the California side and did a trail there. A couple of spots needed careful spotting and a little rubbing on the steps, but other than that we did fine. Then we drove down to Parker, AZ and drove out in the...
Those of us on the forum knew of the update a month(s) ago. I think they are just now notifying the "public". I did the upgrade to 3.3 and sent it back to Ford back when and I still the the notice yesterday. I was just at the dealer and they said I had the latest version.
Sorry, I had some other work done at the same time and I really don't remember or know the break out. Also it was over a year ago and a lot of water has gone over the dam. It was worth it though, still look like the day I got it done, and my truck is not a mall princess.
Beadlocks are not worth it on a Raptor unless you just like the look. You won't blow a bead on the regular wheels unless you do something really stupid, and they are not technically legal on the road if truly installed as beadlocks. But many people feel the look justifies the cost.
