I ended up installing the Full Race radiator and upgraded trans cooler after checking out Mishimoto and reading about the issues. Been 2 years since I installed it with no issues at all.
Just throwing it out there in case it helps somebody else.
Not exactly what you’re asking, but I bought a 2013 Gen 1 Raptor new and have put 220k miles on it. I was also fortunate enough to purchase a Bronco Raptor a few months ago and currently have around 10k miles on it.
They’re very different vehicles. I love them both, but if you’re never going...
I had to replace the inner pinion bearing on my 2013 at 125,000. Went ahead and replaced outer at the same time. No issues with it since, and it's currently sitting at 210,000 miles.
It sounded exactly as you describe it, but it did have a little bit of glitter in the fluid. Really isn't...
Chances are, you’ll be fine. Like I said, there was no warning at all, though.
Was cruising down the street at 45mph and felt a weird vibration like a flat tire. Coasted to the side of the road and engine just quit. No pops or bangs, no CEL lights, no nothing. Turned the key and nothing...
That’s a lot of work, but I agree it’s worth it. I still love my Gen 1 and will never get rid of it.
I agree with the service techs. There was nothing wrong at all with my transmission, but I figured it was wise to go ahead and rebuild it. Been back to the shop 4 times for a small leak...
Broken valve spring caused it to drop a valve at 189k. Was really surprised because there was no warning whatsoever. I mean nothing. Drove the truck every day since it was brand new in 2013 until the motor grenaded in 2021.
I wouldn’t be scared of a high mileage Raptor at all, but if I...
Mine was around $15k in 2021. That included a new Ford reman 6.2 Raptor motor, melting oil pump with billet gears, other misc motor parts like a new intake, complete AC system rebuild, and a complete transmission rebuild.
Thanks, I'll do that. Don't expect to have to replace it again (fingers crossed!), but if I was doing it again now, I'd look into it as a serious option based on yours and @WhereAreTheBrakes comments.
No doubt. It was really tough to find one a couple of years ago and I'm sure it hasn't gotten any easier. I looked into the 7.3 briefly, but it just wasn't a viable option at the time. Realized really quick that it wasn't gonna be a simple drop-in type of thing with a few minor tweaks and the...
Did anybody ever actually do this? I remember reading this thread on here when I was figuring out what to do with mine, but don't know if somebody has ever really attempted it.
Just spent a couple of hours rotating tires and replacing lug nuts. Knew this day was coming, but the OEM lug nuts finally deformed enough that I had to hammer a socket on more than half just to remove them.
Good times!
I decided to have mine rebuilt while replacing the motor since everything was going to be disassembled anyway. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Ended up having a slow leak that took 4 return trips to the shop and eventually pulling the tranny again to get fixed. Shop found that the...
Sorry to hear this for both of you guys. Went through the same thing earlier this year and agree 100% with @MTF. Find a Ford reman, install a Melling oil pump with billet gears and, if funds allow it, get a JDM Stage 2 Whipple kit. That is the absolute best bang for your buck.
Something else...
I went with JDM and am very happy with it. Trans was rebuilt when the new motor was installed since it was easier to do while everything was out. Had to replace inner pinion bearing around 125K, so went ahead and replaced all bearings in the rear diff while I was in there.
