I give a big vote and a thumbs up to Toyo tires. I have their hybrid tire but the AT3 would be perfect for you and they come in a 35 with C or E rating and have a nice balance of on road manners, good wear, and good off-road. They’re also solid in the rain and snow.
Raptus,
Just stick turbos and some bolt ons and I do have an MPT Tune.
I do have in my possession manifolds, turbos, AMS tubes and flanges, etc. but I haven’t done anything with it yet. Maybe late fall or winter.
Here is another fun fact. All the gaskets, filters, tubes, nuts, bolts and studs to properly do the change to new turbos And manifolds is a $700.00 miscellaneous part cost by the time you purchase all the genuine OEM items.
For those who may be interested it’s just a cost to keep in mind that...
Here is a quote from CR Engineering.
“The long term dependable limit is not well known yet for the Gen2. This 3.5L seems to be no issues to the 600 RWHP range and not many are above this. Keeping torque down in the low RPM is advised.”
Listen...
here is my advice....
Arrange a proper dyno tune at MPT. They will take care of you. Don’t drive the truck down there. It isn’t worth the potential disaster. Have it towed down on a flat bed. Couple hundred bucks tops. Let him fix it. Then have someone bring you down and you...
That is interesting but it isn’t really substantiated data. 600 horsepower is a far cry from 520 horsepower and without huge turbos or Ethanol, no one is getting there with stock cores.
It is known that the risk of catastrophic failure increases beyond 600 horsepower but a lot of that has...
I would send a log to 5 star of their tune. Get them to verify it’s “safe” to drive and then roll down to Mike at MPT and let him properly tune it ON the dyno and set the timing and A/F ratio and all.
I wouldn’t drive that on a tune designed for stock.
it needs to be custom tuned. Personally, I wouldn’t do this without a dyno. You’re rolling some serious and expensive dice.
Lars Over at Gearhead daily drives his big turbo truck with over 500RWH. As in... it’s a family hauler.
that being said.... no I wouldn’t dial up 600 ponies and then go tow a boat. I wouldn’t dial up 600 ponies and go run it up and down the strip day and night either. If you’re a sensible...
Based on what data?
there is at least several trucks I know of that have piled significant mileage on some pretty hefty rear wheel horsepower north of 550 and are doing fine. I don’t know many that have been wrecked.
I have the FOMOCO Performance Touring by Borla.
been on for a couple years now. I tried 3 different exhausts.
Truth... they all sound similar — in a bad way. There are parts of the throttle position that sound great and other parts that sound like you have a Honda Accord with a hole in the...
No Sir,
— Not Yet...
That’s just the prevailing information I’ve been getting as I research the topic. I don’t know that anyone has tested it before and after, but I think most of the talented shops feel that once you open up the intake, intake tubes, turbos, turbo flanges and new exhaust...
It would seem to me that the different air/fuel requirements as well as timing requirements will be very different with the larger turbos. I’m amazed they can do this via email tuning... Five Star has tuned these on the dyno so I guess they have a pretty close canned tune as would Gearhead I...
The transmission will be fine.
You just can’t over do it on the torque produced in the lower RPM range. The magic number seems to be not to exceed 580lb*ft. On 93 octane the realistic goal with 46mm turbos seems to be about 550 horsepower on a stock fuel system.
if you push it any more...
he’s giving you good advice. And unless you are really looking to tinker with it... all the time... and have tech and some minor install skills... steer clear.... you’ll be very frustrated
if you’re able to install it yourself and are comfortable with electronics and Android... it is the best...
Realize if you can make it to 560 horsepower that extrapolates to just about 700 at the flywheel which certainly makes it competitive with a new 5.2 Liter Raptor or a TRX
For a lot less money.
I would use a fine polish. Swirl remover level... and by hand... polish away... vertical motions against the direction of the stain. If they’re surface stains they’ll come off. If they’ve dyed the vinyl...
get new decals
Mostly around 20 percent.
Every dyno is a little different. With an aggressive tune and maximal bolt ons... it’s around 80 horsepower but you’ll also pick up a ton of low RPM torque and the power under the curve is much improved.
It’s a different truck for certain.
I believe that this...
Those mods will get you to 450 RWHP give or take a few. That’ll get you under 5 seconds to 60 and a low 13 quarter mile.
If you want bigger power on pump gas, it’s going to take upgraded turbos.
CR Engineering has 46mm turbos and manifolds that will open up a lot of possibilities but you’re...
