No
the issue is that they don’t cover as much as the OEM skid plates. They are at least 4 inches narrower on either side directly under the transmission and it completely exposes the cats to a sharp rock or a sharp limb.
when I compared them side by side I knew that they weren’t for me...
I agree that they are made beautifully.
There isn’t anything wrong with them. They’re just designed with less undercarriage coverage. That won’t work for what I need and whoever buys them should be aware of the issue.
I didn’t grab any.
the RCI skids are great quality but they’re straight width from front to back. The oem stuff is like a trapezoid. So the rci doesn’t protect the downpipes and in that area the frame rails are exposed as well.
it’s just not the coverage I had hoped. But the quality is...
Nice quality.
The skids are smaller than stock. I’ll keep the gas tank skid but the rest is going back.
This would be better suited for an F150 platinum or something.
Im going to go with Ford Performance since it covers as much as the factory OEM.
This, I think, will also work.

I think the front diff is the same 8.8” cover as the old generation rear diff.
It makes sense
improve the efficiency of the pump. Less restrictive intercooler, AMS Intake tubes, manifolds, larger higher flowing turbos, large open turbo flanges, higher flowing downpipes.
That’s the setup... if you’re going as far as the turbos.... it’s not much more to add the other...
I don’t just want to pry them off, even though I suspect they are just clips.
I also don’t want to take down the front fender liners to verify if someone else has already done this maneuver.
how do you get off the side vents to change them?
Anyone?
I elected to do bare aluminum skids from RCI. They will serve my purpose.
When I’m done my overhaul, which includes new turbos, manifolds, downpipes, intake tubes, etc... I’ll throw them on. Then I’ll refocus my attention on carbon fiber fender flares that are +1, hood scoop and vents and...
With a few votes of endorsement for RCI.... I placed an order for a complete set and bought their gas tank skid as well.
I don’t need the strength of steel or the rust it will eventually collect, powder coated or not, it’ll get chipped, and it’ll eventually rust. Line-X would probably do it...
Yeah that’s the simplicity I want. I don’t have any issue taking down a skid plate. I’ll be installing these myself. But what I don’t have a lot of is extra time. I work in long blocks where my schedule demands 24/7. Even an extra 15 minutes is precious.
so if I can drop two small bolts...
With RCI, you have to buy the entire set and then not use the front piece correct? Because it’s a transmission skid, transfer skid and engine skid which includes the front piece... the stock Raptor plate is legit.... I’m not removing it unless I replace the bumper.
The title says it all.
I’m doing a bit of an overhaul of my truck. One of the things I noticed, living in the NE is that I have some surface rust on the under belly skids. I want to go aluminum.
RCI metalworks and Foutz are my top contenders. Anyone have either and can comment?
Foutz...
Couple of observations.
1. Looks like you live in a nice neighborhood. How many acres is that little gem of yours situated on? Is that a road or a driveway?
2. I see a Subaru in the background. Are you sure this is Texas and not Vermont?
3. I notice the truck and the motorcycles parked...
35X12.50R17LT Is the size you need. It’s E rated. If you want a narrower tire they do have a 35x11.5 C rated version but I’d stick with the wider beefier sidewall.
Stock rims, stock offset. No problem.
they are a “hair” taller. The stock tires are “35s”. These are true 35s.
They are new for 2020, come with a mountain snowflake and best of all are an All Terrain Tire... not. Mud terrain or a hybrid tire. They have nice on road manners, plenty of siping...
