It just depends. I've waved or flashed the lights at another Gen 1 to only get nothing back.
Some merely buy either Gen for a status symbol. And other buy it cause it's a badass offroad truck that will see dirt.
I hear ya. Preferred gas due to ease of working on(never had a diesel so still foreign at times) and the lighter front end of the gas engine would be nice on trails.
Curious to see how the 7.3 does after years of Ford building only OHC.
I thought about one with the 7.3L.
But wanted to wait a few years to see how the 7.3L ends up in real world driving experiences and any first year quirks that need to be fixed.
That, and I would have to dump more money into it to have to come close to a Raptor for any speed offroad with bumps.
Just picked up a 14 SE Ruby red with 45k miles. Nicely maintained. 42k.
Got 3k more on trade in too than other dealer.
It was the only color combo I was willing to pay over 40k for.
Value will drop depending on price.
If the Gen 3 comes out even more expensive than the G2 due to more power, tech, suspension etc then the Gen 1 probably won't take a hit.
If a fully loaded Gen 2 is ~72k and a Gen 3 is now ~84k then I can't see the 40k market Gen 1(13-14) taking a huge hit.
Valid points for sure.
The ability to simply get gobs more power out of a tune is tits.
Instead of dropping 7-10k on the blower, oil pump etc...
One thing that always bothered me way that I would had to get the 802A for the keyless ignition and cooled seats IIRC for the Gen 2.
Bastards.
You'll be fine, outside of installing cooler plugs. As long as you didn't forget to change the oil for 25k miles and you put in vegetable oil to save money. lol
Different engines but my father boosted an excursion with 100k miles on it and an expedition with 90k miles on it. Both are over 240k...
Drive both.
You may prefer the tech of the Gen 2.
You may like having remaining warranty or maybe you don't gaf and want to mod it to oblivion.
I've had two Gen 1's. One NA and one boosted.
Wanted a Gen 2 as I don't mind the Ecoboost.
May go back to a Gen 1+ more mod money, but this time...
They are rising in the SE. 13 and 14's anyways.
Not going for a Gen 2 anymore, so I started to look at Gen 1 prices. Surprised to see even trucks with over 60k listed over 40k down here.
Yup. Over 240 is risking frying something. Couple years back a handful of Raptors went trail riding and 1 forgot to check the trans temp before it got too hot.
IIRC he saw it at 247F and by the time he thought to check it he fried some sensors in the trans and was limited to 1-2-3.
I did...
Was super impressed on how spot on their tune was on the first and only try.
Shifting, idling, dd duties and wide open, truck so far has been flawless.
I asked for a 91 oct tune from JDM, even though Florida is a 93 oct state.
Maybe the timing is a smidge lower, but I did it as a just in case I do another cross country trip and enter a state with only 91.
For peace of mind I would get a retune for 91, but not sure how much timing/what they do...
It has the Roush "canned" tune?
didn't realize you could get the 100k warranty with the Roush, or at least have powertrain covered up to 100k.
What's your location? That does play a role in pricing. SW, SE, NE, bumfuck nowhere lol?
Guess just drive it, see if you can hear any whining from...
Buy the Whipple.
-JDM/SVC and other vendors sell em
Then suspension if you plan to push it's limits offroad. (3.0's+, Bumpstops)
-almost every vendor on here sells suspension components.
Bumpers for appearance/practicality(dovetail/frame cut)
-Personal preference for looks
Trying to find that aftermarket light a vendor has.
Think my 3rd light got water in it and would rather just upgrade it than have the new one crap out in a couple years.
Know I saw it on the FB FRF but searching on there is a pita
You buy via dealer or private sale?
No sign of a handheld tuner anywhere in the truck?
Know when the plugs were done last?
Which supercharger? Roush/Whipple/procharger etc?
