Back in 17 I went with the 650 hp Roush kit. Felt like as soon as I got it, the Gen 3 whipple kit was released. Bad timing on my part lol.
If I were to do it again, maybe in a few years, I'll go with the 700hp JDM whipple kit. Then add a smaller upper pulley and supporting mods when I want...
I think install for my truck was under 2k with the oil pump gears included. Think in the 1600-1800 range. Was trying to find the statement but no luck so far
1. No. The 6.2 is stout. My dad installed a procharger years back on the 5.4 engine on his expedition at 90k miles. Truck has over 220k now and still on stock engine/trans. Used to surprise lightnings with it.
2. I installed one on my scab raptor. Na mileage was 13mpg. Post roush 11-12mpg.
3...
Sorry got my wording wrong.
Are they the adjustable ones?
Think I'm set with who to buy from and which ones to get but just curious in the mean time while I debate among the 3 shock brands.
If the itch isn't too bad, wait for the Gen 3 to come out. Especially if you still like the R. Then again, you may be able to score a good deal with the economy in limbo. Especially with the R being traded too
That's my plan for now, but if the Gen 3 isn't that much better than the 17's+ then...
In general this is a good list
With the supercharger, check the belt to make sure it's still in good condition and know what size it is for a spare one.
Listen to the blower while truck is running( in park or neutral lol). Is it making any weird noises?
Maybe ask/get a compression check for...
FWIW I've seen stock suspension Gen 1 and Gen 2 guys send it at events like RTO and some small trails with no issues. But like others have posted, it can still very well happen where you smack the hell out of the stops and now you got a tweaked frame.
I've noticed that some times when a truck was imported from Canada the dash was changed to the white background for the MPH speedometer conversion from the "stock" KPH speedo.
But I have no solid evidence that's true or just a few examples I've seen when truck shopping.
But on the flipside will he get top dollar trade in numbers? I agree now's the time to buy if you didn't have a trade in that they could lowball while offering you a "steal" of a selling price.
Can't imagine dealers will be giving good trade in values to used vehicles they may have to price...
Unless the 17 is giving you issues, I would wait for the Gen 3/refreshed Raptor.
Extend the warranty, if those issues will worry you past the 3/36 bumper 2 bumper or 5/60 powertrain
Bump from the dead
I'm slowly starting to part together a build for my truck and 3.0's are on the list. My stock shocks are nearing 60k miles and I'm debating on switching over to 3.0's some time this year. Or do the fronts now, and then rears towards December or vice versa
The non dsc are an...
The Limited has the same exact engine, with the supposed fix, so it's not guaranteed you won't a cam phaser issue in the future.
The Limited will depreciate faster, so even if it's a 0% you got to make sure you love the truck for a bit. Does a Limited at 0% equal a cheaper payment for you?
Or...
Well, you got the warranty. Just gotta hope they only need it once to fix it.
Unless the truck was throwing a code back then, or rattling back then, I'm not sure what the dealer could of done? May of been a pure shit luck issue, or maybe the previous owner tried his best to cover up the noise...
