So weird. Still can't figure it out. Must've just got a bad one or the heated garage is an enemy. My tape is in great shape. Checked every year. My truck see very very little offroad use unfortunately. 98% road. Never let anything sit and live at car washes.
What year is it? Trying to figure out the variable of why some are insanely bad. Do you store in warm garage? Also did you plug the rear wheel well hole thats right above the cab corner?
There's a difference between rust through metal where the integrity is gone and surface rust that can be stopped because it hasn't penetrated into the metal. Its all solid except for the stuff I knocked off.
Luckily it looks like the running board mount area still seems solid, just need to stop the corrosion. Would'nt want to risk cutting the piece out and welding new and finding out its not as secure for running boards for some reason.
If its still solid couldn't it be left and then anti corrosion sprayed inside?
Found this stuff in aerosol for to get deep in. Works similar to por15.

Thinking bigger picture here. Anybody use a media blaster and just go to town on everything? I can buy one for 80, and can use to do alot underneath.
Thinking media blast, then grease/waxer remover, then por15/chassis saver in and out, then galvanizing primer where I can't get to, then seam...
O M G. Serious? This is insane. I assume your problem was salt from coastline? Mines the winter road salt mix, and then the holes that they designed into the cab. I pulled some dirt build up inside corner.
How in gods name did ford think this was a good idea. I didn't see any post on anyone mentioning this hole in front of the back tire. Did anyone seal this hole up? At first I thought it was the rocker drains but this is way more obvious.
I assume this is the main rocker panel thread.
Has anyone welded in new rocker pieces? I'm also not entirely sure that will be good on mine since the rust extends nearly full length. Would like to secure near the running board mounts. Mines showing bulging near there so its a stress point.
I have motion sensor for house alarm and a camera in garage. Just need some more deterents like maybe motion floodlight or video surveillance stickers.
Is home link a problem when it comes to garage break ins? Why did ford wire constant power instead of ignition? Would solve alot of problems.
Neighbor just had their garage broken into using door opener in truck.
I've read countless posts on this but can't seem to find the solution. I've replaced the lower driverside blend door near the accelerator pedal, since my controls were stuck on panel. Disconnected battery and fuse 46, replaced, reconnected and let it calibrate. The recalibrate seems odd but...
I had my suspicion after finding particles downstream on sensors but thought it may be coincidence. This is big if true. I'm sure alot of desert users here would have huge data on this.
