^^I stand corrected. If the electronics work well, in theory they’d be better. The ability to brake individual wheels in milliseconds is not something you can do from the driver seat. Id still like to see a comparison between a 22 and 23 through different obstacles/terrain types.
^^ Yeah the dust following someone makes pillar lights useless… the bumper pocket lights are the only thing that help you see at night in heavy dust. If you’re by yourself or in the lead the XL 80s are an absolute weapon.
Yes the XL80s are expensive…but honestly you only need a couple of them...
Ive had a 2020 with a torsen and a 2023 without. I drove the 2020 on and off road. I haven't driven the 2023 off road yet, but so far on road I’m grateful to not have the torsen. The 2020 did always feel pretty grippy in the front off road, so it’ll be interesting to see how I feel about the...
Any thoughts on A pillar lights? My only grip with that location is you can get a bit of reflection off the hood. A set of XL80s or LP4-6s are pretty common choices. The nice thing about that spot is the fine tuning of aim and the elevated location can really throw the light out there. This...
I thought the gen Juans had at least an off road mode.
I prefer the modes not change 4x4 status. Quite a few times I end up changing the 4wd after the mode changes it. Maybe i want Baja, but remain in 2wd, rock crawl in 4Hi etc.
Tow/haul mode seems to be a good half way point from normal to sport for me. Sport in my G2 was a little over the top for the daily commuting grind (I don't need to be at 3K rpms cruising along at 40mph), but tow mode sharpened things up about half way from normal. Normal mode can be...
100% the reason they stopped having 2wd locked after Gen Juan was lawyers and the warranty. At least that would be my guess, maybe there weren't very many warranty claims for shredded rear ends but I bet there are fewer now.
I’ve only taken the Raptor on Colorado trails outside of Texas. Pulling the mirrors in over and over does make you think “I shouldn’t be here”. Good to hear, I need to head back there someday.
Not that I’ve really ever used trail control…but that system brakes wheels individually. I know traction systems that mimic mechanical traction with brakes aren’t incredibly popular, but it does do it. If you need to use the brakes to activate the torsen with a wheel in the air the computer...
I just wouldn't go both E load and 20s. If they made a C load 20 that'd probably ride pretty well, lots of raptors have E load 17s...but doing both, thats a pretty stiff wheel/tire combo....IMO. E loads from different brands ride more or less stiff too. KO2 E loads Ive found to not ride as...
Yeah anywhere west and northwest of the gulf coast gets it pretty bad, around the Houston area its pretty light. Its a big state, we just get the hurricanes instead of hail...lol
