I had to do the same thing when my truck was rattling on cold starts. Don't start the car until you are recording. Even then, the dealer wanted to keep the car overnight to try to replicate the sound on cold starts.

I was going to rip my stickers off until I realized they help protect the bed from California pin stripes.

I bet it is a loose ground wire from the light install. This was often the problem with janky car audio installs. Don't ask me how I know.
