GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

@Louisiana Barefoot I've read the same, but when looking at the head design of the 6.2L Boss engine, designed specifically for the Raptor - it appears both plugs are equal. They both sit at around 45 deg. angle to the piston. In this picture the intake (top plug) is at the top and the exhaust...

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

@Gary E It's got 107k. It sat for about 1 year at various dealers before I bought it in December.

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

My thought exactly. I'm all for doing the work someone else doesn't want to deal with, plus now I know it's done right and I've learned something new. It seems the 6.2L plug replacement at the dealership is upwards of $1,500. I've got about $300 in this so far, so I consider ~$1,200 for my time...

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

Good point on the pressure washing. I'm confident this truck hasn't seen much mud - I spent a good bit of time underneath at the dealer parking lot with a flashlight before I bought it, and there's virtually no mud in any crevice anywhere - and more importantly no rust! It's very clean. I...

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

@Gryphon313 and @mprice1234 You guys were right! The hole was full of mud and what I was seeing in the picture was the top of the plug sticking out. Today I was able to take a long pick and dig all the dirt out and it revealed the whole plug underneath! I used a long tube on the end of an air...

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

Good point @Ruger - I'll do that and see if I can get more history just so I'll know. By the way - for anyone reading this in the future - while searching around I found this: Spark Plugs May be Difficult to Remove on Ford F-250 Super Duty Problem Description Spark plugs in the Ford F-250...

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

I do have his name on the title transfer papers. He sold it / traded it to a large Dodge dealership and then it was sold to 2 other used car dealers before I bought it. There was about 1 year duration at the dealers between when he sold/traded it and when I bought it. Along the way, there's a...

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

Thanks - The entire upper half of the plug is gone, so there is no hex. That little center metal section is sticking up maybe 5mm. It seems the second plug on that cylinder is still working OK. The truck runs fine except for random stalls - which may or not be related.

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

The top of the plug is gone. Apparently broken off by someone before I got it and the boot put back on place. The tool you showed is interesting, but if the plug is seized tight enough that the outer hex part twisted off, there's no way that little center section is going to get enough grip...

GEN 1 Update: Broken Plug ... Isn't Broken

Changing plugs in my new 2014 Raptor (107k miles) that I got a month ago and discovered the top plug on cylinder 8 is broken off. Apparently the previous owner twisted the top half of the plug off and put the coil back in and left it that way. It appears to have been like this for a while from...

    Plugs Wires Part Numbers?

Thanks for the clarification. I'm getting some arcing off the #3 or #4 coil if it's wet (you can hear it and see it). So I know there's a problem. The stalling issue is when idling or at very low throttle. Normally it 'coughs' and dies instantly at idle. Twice it has quit / gone into some...

    Plugs Wires Part Numbers?

Hi - Can someone help me clarify Motorcraft part numbers for plugs and wires for a 2014 SuperCrew 6.2L. I seem to be going around in circles with reassigned part numbers. Are these correct for Motorcraft? (16) Plugs CYFS-12-FP A.K.A. SP526 or SP-526. Are these the correct 'Double Platinum'...
