All I know is I do this for every cold start on my 2018 Raptor that has cam phaser issue, and no more rattle on startup. Eventually, I'll get it taken care of. Not crazy about my truck with 15k miles being torn apart.

Definitely can use the points toward an ESP plan. Did this at Flood Ford.

Same here. July 2018 build date with 14k miles. I've been hitting start button without brake first to get oil up to phasers, then start the truck. Hasn't rattled since I started doing this, but eventually will get it fixed. Anyone have this phaser work done in Phoenix area and satisfied with dealer?

So blame the people, not the dealership. If having a 2nd key and/or owner's manual is important to you for a used vehicle, make a point of it when negotiating the price.

Did exactly the same. Removed pull cord and kill power to opener at night.

FTO - Can you explain how flooring gas pedal and hitting start button before starting normally prevents the start up rattle? Oil pressure gauge seems to show oil pressure. Is oil being pushed up to phasers? Hasn't rattled once since I started doing this.

Unfortunately, I'm a member of the small population with the problem. Not looking forward to having my 2018 MY truck with 13k miles torn apart. Will prob wait til next year before warranty expires. I will say that mashing the gas pedal before actually starting the truck as someone recommended...

Exactly! It is an easy oil change. Now my wife's 4Runner and my son's Tundra are a different story. Total PITA!

Man, I just don't get these oil change posts. It's not a difficult oil change. Lots of room under the truck. I throw down an old shower curtain. No Fumoto, no skid plate removal, and might have a couple drops on curtain when done. Way easier than my son's Tundra. What a joke that is.

I bought 3 cases of this oil the last time it was on sale in different weights for all my vehicles. Can't beat the price and I'm hoping because Costco put their name on it, it's decent oil.
