I think a small tow-behind is perfect for this size truck. My wife and I want to do that at some point. Of course with the Roush blower on it, mine climbs great, and tows my boat great, but my main issue is that I've seen some transmission temps that I don't like. Part of is is that we live in...
I had a 5th wheel and a long bed F-350 to tow it, and sometimes (like windy days or mountains) that was just enough. Last weekend I had the Raptor loaded with gear and family heading up to Big Bear and I can’t imagine climbing with a big 5th wheel behind me. A light travel trailer would be ok...
I’ve had good luck with the local fuel, and it seems like I probably just got a bad batch on the way to Big Bear. Today I heard some knock on a long test drive with some hills in 110 degrees. I was almost down to 1/4 tank so went and filled up. Couldn’t repeat the issue. I’ll try again tomorrow...
Jim has been fantastic, that's not an issue. I'm trying to track down some audible spark knock that happens at part throttle, highway speeds, before downshift, when I'm starting up a grade and just start to add more throttle slowly. Jim has already pulled a little timing out in this area, and I...
Hey Vegas people, I need some help finding a good shop where I can put my truck on a dyno with a really capable tuner. Running a JDM tune now, and very happy with it overall. I just want to fine-tune it to suit this particular truck.
If I have to drive to Southern California, I will.
Thanks,
Sean
Last weekend I had the truck loaded up and heading out of Vegas to Big Bear. We were heading up Mountain Pass (west of Stateline) for those who are familiar and started to notice the TC lock and unlock. I was about to select tow/haul mode like I often do in the hills when I saw the trans temp...
Hey thanks! I went with Method Mesh wheels, 17", added OMF bash rings with black bolts, and flush center caps from Chief Machining. I sprayed the rings with antrhracite plasti-dip because a lot of the trails are rutted and really rocky out here. I knew that I would "BASH" the hell out of them...
Ok, so I forgot to come back and update. Sorry. I completed the install on Memorial Day weekend. Everything went pretty smoothly. To recap, prior to that point I had already done the 16 spark plugs (NGK 6510), installed the intercooler assembly, pump, etc. I had also done the wiring at the ECM...
If I have no accessories on, no A/C, nothing, low 14s is my reading too, just not at the SCT device. Something is wrong with it—either the cable or the device itself. I need to get the voltage issue squared away so that I can trust the other readings. If it's wrong, who knows if the other...
I actually tested the voltage at the OBD port with a meter, and the OBD port is reading the correct voltage (matches alternator output). Something is wrong with the SCT device OR the cable. Working with SCT to get to the bottom of it.
Thanks Charlie. My battery is fairly new. It's a Duralast Gold from Autozone. I have been told by a reputable person that they are crap, BUT I just want to rule anything else out before I start blaming the battery for the low voltage—if it's even low! My old battery was still humming along after...
I've been doing some datalogging recently, and my voltage is reading between 12.8 and 13.4, averaging about 13.2. This seems low and I want to know what is normal? I can barely get 14 under WOT, but that's the only time I see something higher than low 13s. Curious to know what others are seeing...
