If you want cooler temps, You need to bypass the thermostat in the valve body with this.

I installed the bypass valve and the larger cooler. I rarely see over 200 degrees on trans temp. If you're pulling a trailer on a hot day, heat...
I've ran interstate batteries for a long time. It seems like they don't last as long as they used to. I used to get 5 years out of them. I'm the opposite of the OP. I run my truck all winter and it sits a lot during the summer. It seems lately that after about two years the Interstate batteries...
I had the same problem. turned out to be the dust shield where the steering shaft comes through the firewall. There's a bearing in it that dries out.

I decided to be the guinea pig. I bought one off ebay for $188. Part# 9632. It's a little longer than the stock. It's a tight fit to get in, but there isn't any fitment issues. It definitly spins the motor faster than the one I took out. To be completely transparent, I replaced the factory...
Make sure your trans is at the correct temperature when you check it after changing it. I think it has to be around 197 degrees. I think that's the temperature the thermostat in the trans opens to let the fluid travel through the trans cooler. Someone correct me if I have the temps wrong.
I have an exhaust manifold leak on my Gen 1 and I'm basically replacing the whole exhaust system minus the cats. So I was thinking, while I have everything out, I might as well replace the starter. Mine seems to be slowing down when cranking. Battery is good. I was looking at powermaster...
Wasn't there a recall on the output shaft speed sensor that caused the 6th to 1st shift n the highway? Worth a shot changing that. If the computer is getting the wrong info it would shift crazy
I think this was the kit. https://www.sonnax.com/parts/3052-zip-kit
I did it like 8 years ago. I installed it myself. If you go this route, make sure you keep track of the solenoid locations. Because you can mix them up. Some will fit in multiple locations. There's actually serial numbers on the...
When i put the Sonax rebuild kit in my valvebody, I didn't replace the solenoids. When the lockup converter started acting up, I talked to my friend at a local transmission shop that I had bought parts off for years. He said the real problem is having steel valves in an aluminum valvebody. They...
I had the same problem with a 4-5 shift flare. Turned out to be the valvebody in the trans. I installed a sonax rebuild kit. It worked for about a year then I started having problems with the lockup convertor not holding. When I got the new valvebody it looked a lot different. Once installed I...
