I struggled for a while between the fold-a-cover an the Bakflip f1 covers. I liked the box and accessibility of the Fold-a-cover and the box that they had. But I did not like the access to the bed. I have had a BakFlipHD before on my previous truck so I went back with what I knew. It also seemed as if many more people had installed the Bakflip for various reasons than the Fold-a-cover.

The one downfall I think is the Bakbox. I got it installed and I think it will serve the purpose, but we shall see how well it holds up. Since the box just sits on the rails and is really held there by the 8 screws that hold the side plates on and provides pressure for the tight fit i have my doubts as to its durability. I had read on one of these posts to make the measurement for the box then add 1/8 " on to it to ensure a tight fit between the rails. That seems like good advise after trying it. I guess we will see over time.

First mod complete now to move on to the fun ones. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371123515.904678.jpg

The F1 is awesome! I like everything about it except having to open it everytime I close the tailgate.

The Bakbox is a POS. It has fallen atleast dozen times sense I got it in April / May.. I've readjusted it every time with no success. It's even fallen with zero weight in it. I bent the brackets to face slightly downward the last time I adjusted it and, so far, it's still in place.

Agree. Love the F1 but wish I had saved the $$$ on the box. Even when it stays in place it just takes up room and is a pain in the ass.

I like the F1 but ****** me off that the rivets and D Ring bracket started rusting after the first rain, now it looks like Crap!

Wow, mine are fine. I even had snow / salt on the cover and they aren't rusting. Might want to give them a call.

On my old Bakflip HD the rivets and d rings took about 1.5 to 2 years then started rusting. I also had scratches in the aluminum top which was fading. One of the other reasons I went with the F1 this time.

Mine still looks awesome.
Was thinking about the box, but too inconvenient sitting way forward.

Always wanted to do this for football tailgate games, but I'm sure security would frown on it.

Love this I so want to try that during tailgating. So far the box has done everything I have asked it to do. I think it will work fine for light weight usage. I am worried how it will hold up offroad.

It won't...
Wish I would have saved the money here as well. All I had was the factory jack and some odds and ends in it and it won't even hold up to a moderately rough gravel road. They also show how it folds up nice and flat. It doesn't and even if it did there is no way of securing it up. Using it for a beer cooler? HA! The box doesn't seal closed with the cover so what's the point if it's insulated? You'd be lucky to make it to the stadium with any ice at all, not to mention that anything else you had in the back end would be soaking wet. Wouldn't be surprised if you had a half dozen or so bottles rolling around the back end at that point either. Oh yeah... Good luck taking fitting it in there too. Size it so the bracket ears fit over the rail and it won't fit between the bak cover stand off legs. Fit between them and it won't even come close to hanging on the rails.

Bak box= great idea that fell way short of the mark.
