PSA: Check your Whipple CIA

I was just changing the oil on my truck and noticed the Whipple badge fell off my CIA and left 4 holes on the engine side of the filter. I am not sure how long the truck was sucking in dirty not filtered air but I am not happy. I plugged them with some permetex as a half ass solution as i need the truck.

I recommend if you have a Whipple CIA to go check the emblem.

Mine did the same thing and I called them and they were nice enough to send me a new pipe. They did ask for photos of it etc. just call them and tell them what happened.

I hate seeing stuff like this. I have the Whipple CAI. I’m thinking I should seal up that badge. So chintzy.

They got back to me tonight and said they will send me an updated badge which I am assuming has the posts in it that we’re supposed to go into those holes.

I just wanted to point it out as it could be easy to miss seeing it and it is potentially harmful.

That is garbage quality control, looks like a Frankenstein hack job.

Well using adhesive to attach things to plastic is problematic.
Even WeatherTech has problems with the floor mats.

At least they back up there products and will correct it.
And the new close CAI system they completely solved it by riveting them on.
But I agree they should have at least put black silicone around it for a cleaner look.
Until the guy in the shop learns how to use a Dermal better. LOL
It can be bought as a partial upgrade for $380 for guys who want to switch.
It says Expedition but fits the Raptor as well.

They should have just not put the holes there. I don’t really care about the emblem. I do care about not filtered air getting into my motor. I just don’t understand their logic in doing what they did.
