Generally it's just seals. A shock rebuild is pretty easy once you've had someone show you and you've done it yourself a few times, you just need the right parts and tools. Though I've only works on piggyback and remote reservoir shocks, not sure what the differences are with internal bypass. When you "re-build" them, whats being replaced, the shock valves and oil?
Personally I think if the shocks are only $700 for the rears and a little more for the fronts that's reasonable. I would have pay more than that to replace the shocks on my sled.
I don't know what kind of life expectancy people put on the shim stacks but I'd imagine they eventually have to be replaced. I haven't really heard of anyone replacing shims from wear and tear on a snowmobile shock though.
Since some have had these rebuilt already it would be nice if they could track down specs on these shocks from like IFP depth, nitrogen pressure, oil weight and what seals are required for a full rebuild.
