When you "re-build" them, whats being replaced, the shock valves and oil?
Generally it's just seals. A shock rebuild is pretty easy once you've had someone show you and you've done it yourself a few times, you just need the right parts and tools. Though I've only works on piggyback and remote reservoir shocks, not sure what the differences are with internal bypass.

Personally I think if the shocks are only $700 for the rears and a little more for the fronts that's reasonable. I would have pay more than that to replace the shocks on my sled.

I don't know what kind of life expectancy people put on the shim stacks but I'd imagine they eventually have to be replaced. I haven't really heard of anyone replacing shims from wear and tear on a snowmobile shock though.

Since some have had these rebuilt already it would be nice if they could track down specs on these shocks from like IFP depth, nitrogen pressure, oil weight and what seals are required for a full rebuild.

From where? As I recall, the fluid in the Raptor shocks is not conventional hydrolic fluid. I remember reading that it's a NASA derrivative and is more expensive than the shock itself.

Kartek Off Road - Shock Oil

Any of these fluids will work and are no where near the price of a shock. If I remember Ford was making the claim the fluid is more expensive than a normal set of oem shocks. Those things are probably $10.00 a shock.

Ok, so after reading this thread, I got to wondering what happens after my factory warranty is done and my extended warranty wont cover them.
So, I emailed FOX and got the following reply from the Sales Manager / Technical Support
of Powered Vehicle Division.

> What is the warranty from FOX for your shocks? [QUOTE] Any warranty is assumed by Ford not Fox.
> What is the part Fox # for the shocks specific to the Raptor? (front and rear)? [QUOTE] That is proprietary information I cannot give you.
> If the shocks fail or have an issue after the ford factory warranty, can these be rebuilt by FOX? If so, what is the cost and procedure to send them back? [QUOTE] Cost would depend on what is wrong. You would need to send them in to address in my signature.
> Can I buy the shocks direct from you or must I go through Ford? [QUOTE] You cannot buy at all. Proprietary to Ford only.

Mine will be upgraded as well. When it's time I will be going with something that is adjustable for compression/rebound. The stock Fox is not bad but there are plenty of other options much better including other Fox offerings.
