Well while doing so mild off roading this weekend, I came across a 3 mile dirt road that was about 1.5 lanes wide and recently graded...... The little light bulb in my head went off and with a little peer pressure from friends, "lets see what this thing can do" was the idea that we ran with. There were minor pot holes, wash boarding, and sink holes. But the truck handled great, played around with Offroad Mode/2WD, Offroad Mode/4WDH, 2WD, and 4WDH.... All in all it was a great day, but like the title said, I figured out the reason behind the STUBBY! :peace: I smacked a low, dead tree branch with the factory antenna. Im sure that the crack will eventually spread across the windshield... OH WELL hahah

Damn, I never thought that the factory antenna could bend that far and not snap!

Was out in the shop this morning and chopped a foot off if the stock one. So far no loss in reception.

I wouldnt have imagined it either until I heard it.

For a year i did insurance inspections on vehicles for an appraiser. 9 out of ten claims were for windshields. Just a heads up, the days of having full glass coverage and just calling your ins provider ans having them say "send us the bill" are coming to an end.

The reason is because the glass industry is corrupt as hell basically and have had years of un moderated insurance fraud going on.

Many times a chip can be repaired and that only cost 60 bucks or so. But an unsupervised glass guy will just replace the whole windshield instead because he makes like 5 times the money that way...

We were sent to verify damage on every claim In az for a year by a national insurance provider. It saved the company MILLIONS because we would document the damage and make an impartial call on weather to repair or replace. I made the same money regardless of what call I made and was not thre to help the insurance Co. "Screw people over"...

Anyway, this system will become the industry standard eventually so prepare yourselves everyone...

If I looked at 10 windshields a day and charged the insurance co 30 bucks for each, all i need was to find one that was worthy of fixing instead of replacing for the cost of the inspection to be worth it to the Ins co.

Ha ha ha.. When ever some guy parks next to you so close you need a ******* can opener to get in your car, and they are driving a vehicle with a stainless steel antenna... just bend it over till it touches the fender and let it go. Result.... Hole in windshield!!!

yeah that would have done a number on your paint on the A pillar. Way easier fix to repair replace glass than paint. YOu were actually lucky but I would have NEVER dreamed the antenna could have been bent that much!!
