Hi All - I got sick of running other cars off the road on the blind side (I daily drive my truck in a Metro area) so I purchased a set of the PowerScope/Max Tow mirrors and got them installed. Install was super easy, about 15 mins per side, going slow. These are the power telescope, power fold, heated mirrors that look like the Super Duty ones - all functions that I had with the old mirrors works on the new one, plug and play. I have not hooked up the power telescope part yet as that will require some switch and wiring work and I really don't need the telescope function.

The bottom (or top, can't recall now) of the turn signal acts as the puddle lamp - not very usefull so I would like to try and figure out to turn them into clearance lights that come on with the lights along the front.

So far I am loving it, especially backing up, its so nice to have the blind spot mirror on the passenger side and both sides are large in size. No noticeable impact to mileage - in fact, it might be related to better weather but my mileage actually went up since installing them.

I ran marker light power to my Recon LED blacked out mirror reflectors. I ran a wire from the marker light wire found in the door sill panel so they come on with the rest of the marker lights. It wasn't easy as you can not just simply run a wire into the door from the cab due to the connector they use between the door and cab wiring. I drilled a small hole at the back of the connector to pass the wire through and ran up into the mirror. Backside lights flash with turn signal, frontside led's stay on with marker lights.

What is the part #?

1. Driver side (LH) PowerScope/Max Tow Mirror: DL3Z-17683-AA

2. Driver side (RH) Tow Mirror cover (Skull cap): 7C3Z-17D742-A (this is the one that comes primer grey. I had it painted it to match the black on my truck, there is also a chrome version)

3. Passenger side (RH) PowerScope/Max Tow Mirror: DL3Z-17682-AA

4. Passenger side (RH) Tow Mirror cover (Skull cap): 7C3Z-17D743-A (this is the one that comes primer grey. I had it painted it to match the black on my truck, there is also a chrome version)

5. Tow mirror switch (for telescoping power extending): 7C3Z-17B676-AA

6. Interior switch panel: 9L3Z-14527-PA

I haven't tried to install the switch/panel yet to get the power telescope function, not sure yet that I will as I don't think I would use it much and from what I read, I should be able to manually pull out/push in the mirrors and not damage the telesceoping gearing/motor in the very rare case I would need to. Be prepared for sticker shock at the prices of the mirrors themselves..wow, they are expensive!

Thanks for the info - I was kind of worried about that part. From what I have gathered reading around, I just need to do what you did and run one wire to each mirror and splice it into the wire that goes to pin #11 so that it still functions like a puddle lamp but also comes on as a marker light...still thinking about whether I need to install a diode onto each wire to prevent any back powering...the one guy on one of the other forums that did this already installed them...kind of afraid not to and burn something up if I don't.

One question though - the wires from the door harness pass through to the inside the cab through that connector that you were referring to that blocks access, not sure if it changes color or not but couldn't I just find the corresponding wire on the body side of that connector and tap the wires for the marker light function into that wire isntead of messing around trying to run the wires into the door?

Your mileage went up because your not flooring it when changing lanes, you can see now....

lol, probably true. And the truck feels bigger to me now when driving, you can see the mirrors in peripheral vision alot more now and it makes the truck feel taller/bigger to me (I am sure it is actually a few inches wider with these mirrors vs. the smaller ones but it feels more than a few inches bigger).

Don't know what the say, I almost ran a Toyota Echo off the road last week, he was sitting in my passenger blind spot, I checked the mirror and always try to check the blindspot but didn't see him...got quite the disgrunted swearing, fist shaking, finger, curses, etc. for about 10 miles down the road, lol. Now, just a glance over to the spotter mirror and can be assured no one is there. And backing up into parking spots is a breeze now...I am loving the mirrors!

Do you know if you must have the model with the power telescoping to get the power fold? I've looked everywhere and it seems to be the case. If it just had power everything and no power telescoping... then it'd probably help on the $$$$$$
