I know a few guys were looking into these. They look good, however I know my bulky factory running boards have prevented door dings, so I'm going to keep them (for now).

Right?! I don't mind parking next to a beat up civic because I know they will hit my running boards and not my truck

If you want retractable off-road running boards, you need to consider Rockslide Engineering.

Thank You for your donations to Avery. We hit our goal!

Had to squeeze into a tight spot in a parking garage, both cars next to me would only hit the running boards if they weren't careful. However, two hours later, I scoped it out and both the cars were the same as when I went in... yes!

I love these. I think they look great and make getting in and out of the truck much easier for my wife and daughter. I'm seriously considering these and am about to pull the trigger on them in the next few weeks. I only have two concerns:

1. Door dings from neighboring cars in parking lots.
2. Rock chips on doors from tire spray.

I think I can mitigate the second one by putting some clear 3M film on the lower part of the doors. I don't know if I can do anything for door dings besides park far away.

It looks like they tuck up underneath the body above the frame rails. This should protect them fairly well while off-roading. I'm sure if you slide them on a rock, they'll get damaged, but this truck is not a rock crawler.
