Exhaust tip exiting through the bed sides

Anyone run the exhaust tip through a hole cut in the bed sides behind the rear wheels? Want to get rid of the low hanging tips. Any obstacles or challenges in the way?

What's a good distance to keep between the exhaust tip and the hole cut in the fender for heat issues and vibration?

Any good trim-ring examples to dress the hole up nicely?

And finally - any picture examples of it done on a Raptor bedside?

Currently thinking of going as far as having the stock exhaust mufflers exit on the passenger side, and then having an electric cut-out routed to a mirrored exit on the drivers side... adjustable volume control and clean departure clearance

I've thought about doing it my self.
I did some research and found a couple of products that you can use to attach to the fender as an outer trim ring and keep the exhaust approx. 1/4 to 1/2 inch away from the sides. I think it will be hard to keep that clearance all the time on an off roader truck without creating rattles or clunking. There were some exhaust tips that have trim rings that attach to the fender and then use a flex tube for attaching them to the exhaust. They were somewhat pricey. This seems to be a good solution. I decide that dove tailing and raising the exhaust tip up to just behind the dovetailed fender would work best for me and not create rattles or clunk.

I had thought also that a good trim ring to use would be one of those gas cap door chrome or black rings that attach around the gas cap door as a trim ring for the exhaust if you were going to come through the side of the fender. Their inexpensive and looks like the right size.

That looks awesome! How do you connect it to the rest of the exhaust system? Is there some sort of flex coupling that should be used? Or does the body become part of the mounting system?

I would imagine you would definitely want some sort of flex pipe between that "tip" and the rest of the system. it appears that the ring around the outlet gets attached to the bedside, so without some sort of flexible pipe I would think under certain situations the exhaust torquing one way or the other could possibly crease/crinkle/deform the bedside around the outlet.

Yes the tip will mount to the body and something like a flex joint should be used as the exhaust will rotate a bit when under load.

I would think off roading with this set up would be a recipe for disaster.

Here's one example on a Raptor I found a while back on the internet (when I was half-considering doing the same thing). This one does not appear to be the dual tip single side exit as the Stainless Works example shown above. I have another pic showing the other single pipe exiting through the opposite side. Hope this helps!
