alright fellers, so my white truck is currently undergoing a bit of a transformation where I will add a good amount of black to it.

This process began yesterday, I took my truck to a local graphics shop where I instructed them to wrap the center of my hood, my roof, and tailgate. I may switch to a TireGate down the line so wrapping the tailgate was kind of an experiment that may or may not even be there a few months down the road.

As stated above we used 3M vinyl in Matte Black, the stuff is incredibly sticky, but can be removed later down the line if I ever want to go back to the original look.

They got my hood and tailgate done, but did not have enough vinyl left to do the roof, so they had to stop there and order more. I will be going back in a few days to have the roof wrapped. The matte black vinyl matches my matte black Method wheels to a T. Later down the line I will be tying this white/black look together with black custom bumpers in a hammertone finish and a bunch of black Line-X.

I will update this with better pics when I get the roof done.

Feel free to post your honest feedback. I know the tailgate idea is a bit out there, but the concept is a giant black stripe going through the middle of the whole truck. We'll see how it comes out with Line-X, bumpers, and more work.

I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing. I would have measured the width of the vinyl on the hood and carried that on top and down the back. Right now it kinda looks like you had your tailgate replaced and it isn't painted yet. Say if the hood is only 42", and the black down the back and roof was only 42" it would be more obvious as a stripe, especially on the gate. But I am interested in this. How much is it costing?

Yeah, I see what you mean by that whtrapta.
but the black on the roof will be wider than the hood.
The vinyl ties in at a slight curve to the wider black plastic area where the windshield wipers rest. The width of that area is closer to how wide the black will be on my roof.
and as I mentioned, right now the tailgate is kind of an experiment.

....but your idea definitely sounds like it would look good.... maybe better.

I'll have all the vinyl installed for about $450-$500.
.....That's less than half the price Ford charges for the "Digital Mud Splash" graphics and I'm covering up a large percentage of my paint.

Exactly what whtrapta said. Also, could you have done the raptor logo or F 150 in the hood as a cut out leting the white show through? Would the ford hood graphic be cheaper or more expensive than the 3M stuff?

I like it sept for the width on the tail gate. Maybe mimmic the FORD from the grill on the tailgate? Keep going. I like watching people make their trucks THEIR TRUCKS!

Thanks for the input BDRAG. Yes, from what I've found, having this stuff done at a graphics shop is cheaper than buying what Ford sells. My hood graphic doesn't have any writing on it like the Ford ones do. The graphics shop was more than capable of copying that writing, but personally I don't care for the writing on the hood, and I prefer the matte black to extend all the way down to the grille. As for your other question about cutting stuff out at the tailgate and/or copying the Ford logo on the grille, yes they are definitely capable of that. These graphics shops can print and install damn near anything you can think of these days.

Well, I believe you will soon find out that the more black you add, the faster your truck will be.
I like the hood and will be doing the same to my blk Raptor this spring. Not a big fan of the tailgate, looking foward to seeing the roof completed.

whtrapta, your idea for the tailgate does make a lot of sense. If I were to go back and change to that, it might be as simple as just removing part of the vinyl thats already been installed.

Yeah, I'm not totally sold yet on the tailgate either, but I'm doing my best to reserve judgement until more work is done. Right now it does look a bit out of place, but I think more black will help with that.

Other possibilities I'm considering include wrapping the entire truck in Matte Black, or wrapping the remaining body panels in Matte White or maybe even a Flat Sand color if I wanted to get real crazy.
