I know not everyone here is a fan of Jalopnik, but here is a story which features the head of Ford Performance discussing the possibilities of a Gen4 power plant. Interesting read and also nice to see they don't plan on abandoning the ICE in the Raptor any time soon.

My disapointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Could have told you that without the need to interview FP. It’s a 600lb cast iron engine with less power and torque than the 3.5 HO. It would make no sense to put it in a Raptor.

What about trading that unneeded crewcab and longer frame for the "heavier" 7.3 engine?

my guess is weight distribution would suck and harder to keep the power on the ground without making it a full-time all wheel drive. screw that I love just the rear wheel drive thats one reason I wouldn't be very interest in a TRX. gotta have the 2wd option in my opinion.
