My mustang doesn't have cats and it is a lot stronger smell than my truck, but doesn't have any burnt smell, just more of a raw fuel smell (its a higher HP engine). The Raptor smells more of a burning brake smell and a gas smell I guess. I say sweet, not like chocolate cake but more like almost a sweet aroma that only a gearhead would enjoy, IDK, it's really hard to describe. IT'S ONLY when the engine is under a heavy load, when it's at max torque, you can take off full throttle at a stop light and burn rubber but it won't smell like this, just when towing the trailer up hills. I thought it was my transmission at first, but then we definitley sourced it to the exhaust smell, so that's why I thought about the cats as the exhaust was put on 11 years ago and I don't know if cats last a lifetime or not. And if I can just take them off and the engine runs fine, I'm good with that, but if they are not the problem and there isn't a problem I'm good with that as well. Maybe I'm just wasting all your valuable time on this thread, LOL.
