    Best setting for soft sand

I think that the most important factor is the air pressure in your tires. If you are willing to drop it down to 20 psi or so you can get through most anything as long as you keep moving. In the Imperial Sand Dunes I'll run this and I usually have little problem getting around (and that's in a...

    Quick tire deflator kit

Amazon.com: ARB E-Z Tire Deflator: Automotive ARB Tire gauge & deflator I give this 5 stars, even though I had one bad experience after a year of solid use (explained below). You screw it on, and then counterscrew a piece to remove the valve stem (now safely held inside the tire gauge so you...

Any interest in a mid july AZ run?

You're right about the speed limit. I can't say what it is along the entire route, but it is most definitely 25 mph in places. I'll admit that I'm very liberal when it comes to the speed limit there and have never had any trouble, but that's just my experience.

Any interest in a mid july AZ run?

Man I've been slacking on this site. I'd love to make this but I don't know if I can because I work that Sunday night (and I have to drive back to Yuma for that). Maybe some other time. At some point we should plan a Camino Del Diablo meet up. I drive that all the time so planning won't be hard.

Project US Border Patrol w/ ADD and Chenega Logistics

That's obviously a prototype- not an actual 'Border Patrol" vehicle. It is still in development by the company and thus they need to impress the government. Basically it's for show at this point. If everything pans out then the real production models that will be used will only have either...

    Spyderlock Wheels

Thanks everyone for the info. I've crossed them off my list. I dig how they look but not worth the hassle.

    Spyderlock Wheels

Thanks for the link. If I do go with bead locks I'll give them a try. I'm hoping that someone has tried or knows someone who has tried these on a prerunner so I can get a idea of whether they'd be a good idea or not.

    Spyderlock Wheels

Spyderlock beadlock home Does anybody have any experience with these beadlock wheels? I am considering them because they claim that their wheels really can balance with 'internal sticky' weights, but I don't know if they'd be suitable for a Raptor (most of the vehicles on site are Jeeps...

Look at this dealerships photos of the Raptor

I'm not saying that these guys are trying to fool people on purpose, but they have to take responsibility for their website and it's contents. It would be like me putting out a Craigslist ad for my pre-runnered FX4, yet putting up a picture of a Raptor. Disclaimer paragraph or not it's not right.

    Ridiculous dealer markup

I remember seeing a post about that- wasn't it $73,000 or something close?

Look at this dealerships photos of the Raptor

Good find. I emailed them to ask if they added an aftermarket cage and such. I'm curious to hear the reply/excuse.

GEN 1 Questions about Raptor reliability.

I have 28,000 miles on my truck- daily driving and off-roading an no issues. I had one incident when I first got it when the windows wouldn't roll down. After I turned the truck off and on again they worked fine and it's never happened again (I wrote it off as "noone's perfect/sh*t happens). I...

Why not just get an FX4 then mod it?

Not to keep piling on Whistler but I got my Raptor (everything except nav package and graphics) for 43k. I had made up my mind to only do a retail order (the 4 month wait sucked), but it scored me the great deal.

off road camper ice shake idea

Ripsaw tank - YouTube The Ripsaw 'tank'- this is what I thought of when I saw your post. I know what you're talking about and I like the idea of a more off-road capable trailer. I've seen a few, like those smaller two-wheel trailers, but none is quite what I need or want yet. Speaking of...

ADD Custom Bed Rack, "BigJ" style

I like that! The sticker on the stock is a nice touch. I like the crew on this website. Whether it's the zombie apocalypse or Red Dawn we could band together "The Postman"-style and do allright.

ADD Custom Bed Rack, "BigJ" style

I was thinking the same thing about the speed when it raises. Does anybody know of a way to control/slow the speed?

    Thank you RPG

I'm impressed. I agree- these guys are a class act!

ADD Custom Bed Rack, "BigJ" style

I feel like I have a good perspective on this since I work outside in the open desert and the Imperial Sand Dunes. I wouldn't call myself an expert on any of the gear but I have changed more tires in the desert and self-rescued and tugged out more vehicles than I can count. I'm not a fan of...

    Expedition Tire Rack?

I've checked out Big J's new tire rack, and the ones offered by ADD and Outlaw, but I still want to look around before I decide on what to buy. Anybody have one for sale or ideas for places to look? What I'm looking for is a tire rack with at least room for gas and a jack (spot for a cooler...

I don't live too far so I'll be making the trip. I like expedition-style off-roading anyway.

POST REPORT Land Rush 1000 Part 1

Great write-up. I'm kicking myself in the a** so hard for not going on this. Next time!

i found a possible canopy worthy of RAPTOR!!

I'm conflicted. I don't care for the look exactly, but it would be sweet for sleeping in the back up north.
